About Carolina Scalp Center, the story of our work begins with the personal hair loss journey of SMP artist Mike Greene. Around the age of 19, Mike first experienced the early stages of hair loss. By 21, he underwent his first hair transplant procedure. Over the next 20+ years, Mike chose multiple strip and FUE surgeries in an effort to improve his hair density. Even after these procedures, he often styled his hair in specific ways to hide the lack of fullness he still struggled with. Short hairstyles were not an option because the scars along the back of his head remained visible. In early 2012, he discovered Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP), also known as hair tattooing.
After extensive research, he traveled to New York City in May 2012 to begin his treatments. At first, he pursued the treatment to enhance his transplanted hair and camouflage the scars. However, after seeing the results, he chose to keep the shaved look and later decided to train in SMP so he could offer the same benefits to others in North Carolina without the high cost or long travel. Hair loss solutions have shaped much of his adult life, and he understands the emotional and physical challenges people face when dealing with hair loss.
Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions about our treatments or the procedure.
